Column; Modified does not display year.

I cannot get the year to display in Column "Modified" if windows short date is set as, MM/dd
If I set windows short date to MM/dd/yy then year is displayed in X2 "Modified".

I toggled advanced settings date formats until I'm blue in the face, no year displayed if windows short date is mm/dd.
What am I missing ?.

Use the Modified [S] column. The "Date Modified" column adheres to whatever Windows regional settings format you've mucked with, and [S] adheres to x2's settings.

Modified [S] is also slightly faster, if that's ever a concern.
Both columns may be used at the same time.

I am not sure what you mean... do you want NOT to show the year?
if you don't have yy in the date format then you are disabling the year!

I am using Modified [S] column.

I have set in X2 advanced settings;
date format to MMM/dd/yy
Extra friendly dates is enabled

In windows regional settings I have set short date format to MMM/dd and the year does not show in X2.
If I change windows short date format to MMM/dd/yy then year shows in X2 as MMM/dd/yy
Windows long date format is set to dddd

I see now. The date format you have in advanced options is only used for regular dates (not friendly). In super friendly date mode, old files get to show the date format used in control panel
I will change it for v6.3
