Because all suicidal sheep are just rampant consumers at heart.

So the discussion about "what does a lifetime license MEAN?" has a reason.

Not really - how difficult is it to see that lifetime license means "you ain't gotta pay no more" (legally), whereas normal licenses mean "let's read the changelog first and decide if little Edeltraud gets to go to college first".

It does not matter for a license's validity how the public "mostly" understands it.

Hence the reason it's optional to upgrade (one way or the other).  The consumer decides what something is worth, to themselves at least.  The wording (in English) under the Lifetime description is completely unambiguous - why are so many users making a mountain out of molehill?

Nitpicking is one of the first things you should do with a license wording.

Yes, with Google, Adobe, and your local parish priest.  (Or in your case, de-frocked priest.)  Zabkat is kosher, halal, and non-discriminating.

"Don't be evil" is already claimed.

Well, Nikos is just a bloke trying to support his wife and daughter.  I suppose he'd appreciate a fairly upstanding legacy to leave them.  Besides, evil comes in many forms, and subversion is a hallmark of the devious...

The evil has always been a part of ancient Greek tragedies.

And there's absolutely nothing wrong with people forswearing the legacy of their forbears.  How else is one to carve their own niche in this world?  Do you want to grow up just to imitate what everyone else imitates?  What an awful (if safe and comforting) life to lead.  Besides, wouldn't it be just like the devil to say "Don't be evil"?  You gotta keep 'em guessin'.

I've bought a lifetime license because I hate to pay for every update.

BTW whose lifetime is it? Mine or Nikos?

I doubt that the devil would think it is the best not to behave devilish.

WimdeLange: Your license will die with nikos, presumably. Anyway, there is no term known that says that it must not be used after your death.

And exactly when was the last time you paid for an update for x2 (with anything other than blood)?

As to the definition of lifetime... the boring answer is the lifetime of the "product".  The more interesting answer is that Nikos (like all of us) reserves the right to give up his worldly things and join and ashram at any given moment.  You never know when enlightenment might strike and bare all your life's banalities open to the world's prying judgement - and you find yourself ashamed for not trying harder to make it work with your first wife before giving up so easily.

Of course the Devil advocates behaving "properly" - how else is he to deceive?  Didn't you read The Screwtape Letters?  Requisite reading - especially for atheists.  And just good fun, too.

Never heard of it.
And I doubt I should have tried harder with my first woman. Mistakes need to be made.
