please supply your feedback, or any other irrelevant off topic discussion would be fit for the new year :xmas:

Thhwwaaacckk!! Aren't we a tad sensitive? Give up smoking as a resolution or something? I thought that other thread turned out quite well considering you can't control what your children are going to grow up to be. Programmers are such control freaks. :D

However, on topic (if we must ), I've always been at odds with how IDE's do their own "live" lexicographic-completion as you type... sometimes I hate it and turn it off for being too intrusive, other times it's great and I can't be sure how I lived without it.

In short though, wouldn't it seem more practical for this dropdown it to kick-in automatically whenever you type a '$' character? I mean, exactly how often would you be typing '$' without actually wanting the self-reducing properties popup list to appear? Plus it's one less slightly-less-than-intuitive keyboard shortcut to employ. Since the list can automatically be dismissed with <Esc>, methinks it would be an easier way to access the most used aspect of comlex-mode (I refuse to call it by that other name).

And while I'm at it, why do I have to hit the '+' icon just to add a new (semi-permanent) toolbar property? Whatever happened to right-clicking the blank-space of a toolbar for customisation? Considering you make it way too easy to accidentally dismiss a toolbar (big bright red X which is just begging to be confused with "clear its contents")...

...and isn't the "What is sir looking for?" response somewhat sexist? Not to mention disrespectful to the Irish because colonialism kinda soured it for us... didn't the Aussies just do away with honours recently?

And weren't you supposed to do something about column autosizing? It's horrible. Out of four common-columns, it only got the "size" one right by default... what gives?

not bad idea about the $ but there are technical barriers (see what happens when you type $ then Ctrl+down). On the positive side you don't need to type the $ before you turn on autocompletion, so it is a key saved, all on par :P

autosizing works after the search is over. If you manually resize the columns it should stick (until that time when some other columns happen to appear)

That's not a technical barrier, that's an "I can't take out the rubbish right now, dear, the footie is on!" kinda thing. Just... you know... make it work! The great nikos brought down by a simple EN_CHANGE notification? What's the world coming to?

Not really, it doesn't. It tries harder, but that's not the same thing as actually "working".

And on that same subject, <Esc> seems a tad sluggish when it comes to cancelling searches.

Sir expects his GUI to be more responsive.

Erm... yes you do. Nothing happens with <Ctrl+Down> if no $ exists first. Or were you referring to the future-tense where we've gone all Soylent Green?

if you scroll the view while the search is going, you will get better autosizing. Not ideal I know, but something to consider if you had some sand trapped in your v@gina over christmas and you grumble too much :)

as for ESC key, it never stopped the search, you must click on the stop search button, which will abort as soon as technically possible

Don't get your knickers in a twist at me! I'm just being constructive. :D Would you rather I was off-topic?

Huh, well that would explain the sluggishness all right! I just assumed (for the last friggin' year!) it worked the same way as x2 (which would be... you know... like... logical...)
