I've searched the forums & found a few discussions about fonts & high dpi displays, but I'm having an issue with icons in xplorer2.
I'm running the latest version of Windows 10 that was released yesterday (4/4/17) - it was supposed to fix dpi scaling issues, but I'm not seeing any difference. I tried running xplorer2 in all three of the overrides for DPI: Application, System & System Enhanced and none of them changed a thing.
Basically if I open something like the color coding panel from under customize, the icons for new, trash, etc., are so small I can barely see them at all.
I looked in advanced options as well & didn't see anything to change.
My eyes just aren't what they used to be & even with reading glasses, some of the buttons are nearly impossible to make out.
I'd really appreciate some help/advice.
Thanks,
Paul

Re: Surface Book - high dpi = tiny icons
each windows version deals with high DPI in a different way... have you seen this?
www.zabkat.com/blog/high-dpi-scaling-bug-fixed.htm
these toolbar buttons all have mouse and keyboard alternatives (you can see them if you hover the mouse for the tooltip)
e.g. double click on an empty space to "add new", select/d-click an existing item to change it etc

Re: Surface Book - high dpi = tiny icons
Yep. And the latest release has changed things again.
I've tried downloading a skin with larger icons (following the instructions carefully - named the files correctly & placed them in the folder with the executable - I renamed the originals .bak) but xplorer2 just simply wouldn't use them.
I went so far as to rename all the skin png in the folder to .bak - and after restarting, xplorer2 still had the same tiny icons.
I searched both my appdata folder & programdata folder to see if there were skins hiding in either location, but didn't find anything. I reinstalled xplorer2 & still had the same issue.
Next up is a complete uninstall-reinstall.

toolbar skins will not change these particular icons in the Organize dialog. If you are up to it, you can consider changing the resources as explained here viewtopic.php?f=22&t=8379

Re: Surface Book - high dpi = tiny icons
Unfortunately that wouldn't help him... while those icons may indeed be modified, their practical dimensions remain locked to your original resource bitmaps (larger ones would be clipped) - so this remains a DPI rendering problem between x2 and Windows - specifically, on that of the tablet form-factor.
(And since I dismiss everything in Win10 as a punishment of people's own choice, I can [gleefully] offer no more comment against that dark threat.

Re: Surface Book - high dpi = tiny icons
It seems there's a general problem with my Surface Book's Windows 10 installation. I've uninstalled & reinstalled x2 twice and now things are actually worse. I don't normally use the ribbon, but it's always worked - now if I switch to the ribbon, all the icons are gone.
All I can think of is, some sort of permission issue somewhere. I ran Process Monitor to see if I could spot x2 trying to open the missing icons, but came up empty.
I guess since it's functional, I'll just stop messing with things & avoid making it worse.

Re: Surface Book - high dpi = tiny icons
if you fully uninstall xplorer2 then reinstall leaving all the default options, it should get back to normal
