Missing Menu Bar

Post by Lee Griggs »

Hi, I think I have hit a shortcut by mistake that is hiding the menu bar. I have disabled 'Hide Menu Bar' in the settings editor, but it is still not visible. I just see a thin strip where it should be.

Anyone know the shortcut to bring it back and can this situation be avoided in the future please.

Regards,
Lee

there is no shortcut to hide the menu bar. Are you talking about the ribbon toolbar perhaps?

that's odd, no menu and no toolbars!? Try right clicking at what appears to be that thin line at the top to see if you will get back something?
also note that complications arise when you have more than 1 xplorer2 windows open. Try to close everything with ALT+X then check again what this "hide menu bar" option says... is it still cleared?

ps. an easy way to get back the toolbar at least is to press F10 key

I just get the menu:

Drivebar
Address bar
Toolbar

Its something to do with that thin strip. It wasn't there before and I could show the menu no problem. I may have to re-install but Im worried about losing my config. Is there a way around this?

F10 doesn't toggle its visibility?

Thanks,

F10 key is to execute commands, but first it makes sure that the addressbar is visible. It doesn't hide the menu
anyway, here's an idea. First fully quit xplorer2 with ALT+X, then start regedit and find this key:

Code: Select all

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ZabaraKatranemia Plc\xplorer2_UC\MainFrame Settings
switch to the right hand side pane and find the value called binDualPaneFlags
select this value and press DEL key to delete it; when you restart xplorer2 the menu should be there

this is the only bit that controls the menu inside xplorer2. It is possible that you didn't delete the correct key or xplorer2 was running when you changed the registry (?)

anyway what you can try as a last resort is to fully uninstall then reinstall xplorer2; the obvious disadvantage is that you will lose all your program settings.
