The setup: Two empty folders named Test-Filter and Test Filter 2 as well as two text files identically named. Add to that another folder and text file, both called zzz.
When I type test into the filter bar I see everything except the zzz folder and file. Adding a space or dash to test filters appropriately, but when I add a comma everything's gone (until I press space after the comma and then backspace once, at which point all files/folders are visible. Does that turn the filter completely off?)
When I enter *test* I can add a comma and keep going but I don't see any folders. Alternatively, if I use Ctrl+H and put in test I don't see any folders at all (unlike the filter bar). In fact, I've never seen any folders when using Ctrl+H. I know Ctrl+J turns folders on and off, but the problem is that my zzz folder shows up, too. In other words, it displays all folders with no filter. The zzz.txt file appears and disappears as I repeatedly Ctrl+J but there is no effect on folders.
In summary, I'm not sure how to use a filter that results in me seeing a combination of files and folders. Maybe I have something configured incorrectly? Thanks!!
