Autorefresh Not Working

Post by push2flush »

Seems with Xplorer2 autorefresh is hit or miss. Most of the time it works, but about 20% of the time, nothing and I have to manually refresh folders. This morning in particular, I moved a bunch of files from my D drive and not only did it not refresh, it kept giving me alert sounds when browsing into one of the folders that had moved and was no longer located at the drive - even manually refreshing wouldn't work. Finally, I had to double-click the D drive in the tree list several times to expand and collapse the drive before it finally refreshed the contents. I have autorefresh enabled in advanced options.

Xplorer2 version 3.4.0.2 ULT x64 6/19/2017
Windows 10 x64

autorefresh isn't 100% but to my experience is better than 95% and at any rate pressing CTRL+R should refresh the view. If you see phantom files and folders that shouldn't be there, try browsing the same folder with windows explorer. Also make sure you are running xplorer2 normally and not as a different user or as a forced administrator (elevated)

I would rate it at closer 60%. I just noticed that in addition to folders not refreshing, the folder tree refreshes even less frequently. I just refreshed a folder that had new files downloaded to it and after the folders appeared in the tab view of the drive, I clicked the tree sync icon and the folders did not appear in the tree. The folders only appeared in the tree after opening the folder in the tab, and even then, only the folder that I clicked into appeared, none of the other folders that had been downloaded appeared until i clicked into them and refreshed the tree. It's unfortunate as I'm finding more and more issues with this program as I continue to use it!

what kind of programs are modifying your folders? if you are using a lot of low level programs that won't collaborate with shell, things could be worse. How is your windows explorer refreshing in comparison? You must compare like with like

another thing you can try is TOOLS > ADVANCED OPTIONS menu command and in there tick "alternative autorefresh mechanism" from layout settings page

Thanks for the advise. I just finished building a new system and will give this a try.
