if you replace windows explorer with xplorer2 (during installation) then that's all the integration there is to do

what else is there to do? If you want everything to open results in xplorer2, IT should have a menu command added, not xplorer2

You could run your utility in a sandbox where the registry values are set to have x2 as the main file manager.
With the right setup and settings, you can easily achieve this using Sandboxie.
