I have not found a keyboard command to move the cursor into Quick Filter box from the folder pane if any file is selected or has been selected. Using "Unselect all" still leaves a ghost cursor box around whatever was selected last. Typing to automatically filter only seems to work on freshly entered folders with nothing selected.
I admit it took years for me to discover Quick Filter did an quick incremental search and I would like to use it without the mouse.
I have also thought about moving the Quick Search into my main toolbar and out of the Address Bar because I rarely need it.

It seems there is no direct keyboard shortcut, but you can use Alt+M > Q > Tab

if you start typing quickly enough and reach the 4th letter, the quickfilter box is automatically activated
