Any file in the active pane can be quickly found by typing its name on the keyboard. But if CAPS LOCK is on, then file extensions are searched instead of file names.

That's not new, & it seems to be an intentional "feature".
Maybe there is a a registry tweak to ignore capslock for displaying next filename vs extension.
