E.g. 500 MB file (Blabba.tif) on SSD
"Actions/Set comment" takes 15 - 20 seconds to set the comment.
Could there be some property in my files that causes that, or is that an intrinsic property of setting comments?

is it any quicker if you set the comment through the property page? (File > Properties menu)

It is not an XPlorer2 issue.
It depends on file size.
Setting the comment with Windows Explorer uses the same amount of time -- about 18 seconds on a 500 MB file, and about 10 seconds on a 182 MB file.
I saw comment text at the end of a file, so presumably the program that inserts comments had to find the end of the file.
