Try to record this:
Ctrl+Tab ;switch from pane to address bar
Ctrl+Ins ;copy address bar contents to clipboard
Ctrl+Tab ;switch back to pane
The macro is:
COMMAND 32858 # Switch to tree pane
COMMAND 32858 # Switch to tree pane
which is rubbish!!! Where has the tree come from?? The tree is not even displayed.
Both V5 and V6 have the problem.
AHK records the keystrokes perfectly (I've used it for years).
I'm trying to use the macros in x², rather than AHK, so that I can get round the "mess" of the dialogues in V6. It doesn't appear to be worth the effort.

Re: Macros do not record correctly
macro recorder cannot do this kind of thing (btw the shortcut to jump to addressbar is SHIFT+TAB), you'd have to edit manually
use SENDKEY command to do stuff like copy the path... or see the macro mentioned by frizzlefry in another thread

Re: Macros do not record correctly
Typo - my AHK script is Shift+Tab.
The whole point of experimenting with copying the path to the clipboard was to try and get a solution (other than disable crumbs) to copying the path to the clipboard, using a macro.
Using AHK in V5, or V6 with the crumbs bar enabled, works:
SendInput, {SHIFTDOWN}{TAB}{SHIFTUP} ;switch to address bar
SendInput, {CTRLDOWN}{INS}{CTRLUP} ;copy address bar contents to clipboard
SendInput, {SHIFTDOWN}{TAB}{SHIFTUP} ;switch back to pane

Re: Macros do not record correctly
x2 macros work with COMMANDS mostly. You need to find (menu) operations that do what you're trying to do
for copying the path there is no operation so you need to improvise, see frizzlefry's post immediately beneath

Re: Macros do not record correctly
What FrizzleFry had done looked so laborious I thought there must be an easier way. Obviously not, the macro system of x² is not anything like as useful as I expected.
I can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Problems with AHK, problems with x² macros. Time to abandon V6 for good.
The best thing about banging your head against a brick wall is that it's so good when you stop!
The macro recorder is worse than I thought, the action recorded is NOT always the action performed.
If you are in dual-pane with no tree, Ctrl+Tab switches to the address bar but records the command "COMMAND 32858 # Switch to tree pane".

Re: Macros do not record correctly
but you did a good job discovering a "crumbs independent" way to get the path, well done
