MS always seems to be waiting for opportunities to insert itself.
My default browser is Chrome yet Edge still intrudes.
My default file manager is set to X2, yet File Explorer regularly inhjects itself. When I boot my computer File Manger opens 1/2 doz windows, showing my drives!
Can nothing be done to block these MS apps, and keep me connecter to the dfault settings?

Re: MS intrustion
windows explorer usually reopens its windows when you restart, but if you didn't have any open to begin with then it doesn't make sense
sorry I can't think of any helpful response

Re: MS intrustion
In Windows Explorer, you can turn off a setting in Options on the View tab named "Restore previous folder windows at login", but in your case, you may also need to figure out what is actually causing those folders to open in the first place. Windows Explorer should never be just opening like that - and it certainly does not do it here.
As for Edge intruding on Chrome - if you search for anything in the Start Menu, it will probably redirect you o Edge no matter what you do. I just tested it and sure enough, if you search for something and Windows thinks you want to do a web search, it throws you right into Edge.
Furthermore, if you're trying to run an app, and misspell it, it thinks you are trying to search for something - and the above still happens.
If I could remove the search bar (or, even better, limit the search capabilities of the Start Menu to local apps only, I would. As it is, though, I've completely disabled the search bar and feature from the taskbar, so the only search I have is in the start menu - and even that gets me every now and again because I'm typing faster than it responds, and truncates my app search, making it think I am searching for something completely unrelated.

Re: MS intrustion
Sorry to hear that but at least I know it's a thing that little can e done about.
As for all the File Explorer windows opening in startup I will call Geek Squad and get a tune up and try again.
fyi the Restore prev was already set.
Thanks
