Exclude Folders After Scan

Post by Mike707 »

I scanned a whole 1TB drive for duplicate files, which took maybe 4 hours. Onlye after the scan was complete did I notice that I forgot to exclude all "trash" folders that are present in many of the folders.

Checking the manual, I understood that I could go back to the settings and add the folders that I want excluding. I did that, but it scanned everything all over again.

I can to some extent filter out of view files from certain paths, but that doesn't undo the duplicate identifying and grouping.

Is there a way to remove folders from the comparison results? I imagine that's feasible, since the comparisons were made, they just need discarding (it's not like including a new folder that wasn't yet scanner or used in the comparison).

Thanks

yes, you can do this with declone
under MARK button find MARK ON PROPERTY, select PATH, then pass the path name (part) you want to remove
this will select all the matching items
right click on them and pick REMOVE FROM PANE menu command

I'd like to do this with a whole folder path.... Picking the root of that path doesn't seem to work. Can it somehow be generalized for the chosen folder and all subfolders?

Thx Richard

Oops. I might have found the answer. By looking at the documentation....

"If you want to filter on Folder path column, and you want to use a backslash in the search keyword, you must use two of them (eg. DIR\\SUBDIR), otherwise it is mistaken for a regular expression. To turn off automatic regexp detection see binSearchFlags registry tweak. If you are not in expert mode, wildcards are considered verbatim (as plain text)"

Do rather than putting "D:\downloads" I put "D:\\Downloads". This seems to have worked so far...

Except now I want to "remove from pane" all the selected (marked) items. Right clicking and choosing 'remove from pane' works for one but I need to do this to all the marked items. I'll check the documentation for how to do that...

I rather think I would like to be able to select a whole drive to scan, but exclude from the scan specific folders on that drive. Is there a way to do that?

"remove from pane" (CTRL+DEL) works with the entire selection, not just one item

to exclude folders from the scan see here: www.zabkat.com/declone/help.htm#search_props
(add the folder to be excluded in the list then right click on it)
