tip for audiophiles

Post by nikos »

not many people will have heard of it, but there's a special property available for Infobars called total duration which shows the total length of the songs selected. Use VIEW > TOOLBARS > INFOBARS menu, and right click on the infobar to select columns.
Another feature lost in a sea of secret gems that are xplorer2!

Now hold on just a minute.

Peering over my reading glasses with such a suspicious glare of menace that even the blind mice in the walls are cowering in fear, I humbly ask just how long - I repeat - how long have you been holding this glorious feature hostage?

If you say longer than a year, I will personally march directly to Cyprus (without a boat) drowning along the way, getting resurrected (again!), and snorkelling the rest of the way, just to pummel you into the sand so you can commune with the scorpions in great pain and suffering for withholding it!

If, on the other hand, you have a method of activating this in the mini-scrap pane (as well as the normal panes), I will dig you out of that sand, brave the scorpions myself, and teach the children of your village to chant your name with awe and trepidation as you walk to the latrine each morning.

So which is it gonna be? Nice singing, or painful stinging?

there are no infobars for miniscrap but it works on a regular scrap window

if you search the changelog for TOTAL DURATION, you will find it was added in 2020, (was that during your alien abduction?)

It was a dark Chinese prison, not an alien abduction, you audiophile-school dropout! However, you are forgiven (just this once) for confusing the two.

Oh dear, another thing I just learned... have scrap windows always had infobars? I mainly spend all my time in the miniscrap, but since the advent of the es: command I've become quite adept at scrap panes... but using an acetic layout, I never noticed the infobar switch! Bugger!

Ok, a compromise in détente: I'll dig the latrine (I'm good at that), but there will be no singing children, they'll continue to point, murmur, and laugh derisively (as originally trained years ago) whenever you appear.

Who knew? On the 7th of October 2020 Western Civilisation briefly stopped collapsing and allowed for just one slight moment a glimmer to appear amidst the daily morass of failure and surprisingly depressive soufflés which otherwise populate our human existence. After that, it was all darkness and doom again, but hey, one moment of reprieve is better than none.
