Missing features or bugreports?!

Post by atmeek »

Hi
I've been using 2Explorer for like 1,5 years now and the last week i've been running xplorer2.
But, I miss some stuff from 2Explorer, or am I just stupid?

To start with, one important feature for me is to be able to reach network paths.
It worked to bookmark these in 2Explorer and I used shortcuts to reach them. In xplorer2 i first have to type the ip-adress (excluding the folder path) every first time I try to get to a network path since i started the program. If i include the folder path nothing happens at all. So, I have to have like two shortcuts / network path, if the pathes has different ip adresses. Will there come a bug fix on this one or is the functionallity in xplorer2 made to work this way? (I surley doubt that)

Is there a possibility to let the program "remember" last used folder on a partition if switching to another partition and then switching back to the first one? I liked how it worked in 2Explorer.

Sometimes I have to press alt-d several times to get sizes for ALL folders. I do not know why. It seems as it gone stuck. (Yes, I'm waiting for a long time but not all sizes appears, so I have to press it again)

I liked the drivebar in 2Explorer. Will there in the future be an option to have the similar drivebar in xplorer2?

Thanks for a nice program. I think it will be a killer. (But right now 2Explorer works better for me since I miss stuff mentioned in this message. :) )

please give me an idea how you type network paths
usually it should be \\remotepc\share\path and that works in x2 every time

x2 remembers the active folder of each partition as well as 2x; only you have to type c: or d: in the addressbar to go to it (without the backslash)

are you sure that it isn't just alt+D taking long to complete? please be patient and see how it goes. x2 collects data in a background thread so you can't really tell how long it has got left

instead of a drivebar x2 has a drop-down menu. It takes less space and it is updated whenever you map/remove network drives etc

\\<ip>\share\path

The statusbar says: "The CPU cannot make any sence of the last input".

\\<ip>

I can see the folders

\\<ip>\share\path

It works.

How hard would it be to make this an option or a registry feature? So I can choose which I I want to use as default?

In fact, I waited to short time even thou I though I didn't. A few minutes ago I tried to press alt-d in a folder with 4000 files. It took almost a minute complete and show the size. I opened up 2x and pressed alt-d. It took less than half a second to see the size of the same folder. Pretty much faster i'll say! I didn't think it was going to take that much time in x2. Sorry.

Yeah, but it takes too long time to access a drive with all that clicking in that way. :) :) But i'll see the point...

so you mean you can't see \\<ip>\share\path straight and only after you browse \\<ip> it will work? I haven't seen that !

as for the delay please check your bSantasLittleHelper value (see registry.txt). If it is 2, make it 1 and you should see a big improvement

Yepp!
I'll take the time to install x2_lite on some other computers this weekend to see if I can recreate this strange behaviour. If it acts the same way, I'll let you know...
