ERROR: "... Please insert a disk into drive A:"

Post by viktor »

Working with xplorer2_lite v2.0.0.1 and (since today :)) with v2.0.0.2 I permanently get the error message
"There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive A:"
The floppy drive is empty and I do not try to read from it.

PS: GREAT tool, thanks for it :)

Was one of the panes on A:\ drive when you closed x2 down? If you have Save on exit checked in the options, then it will remember the last drive/folder you were in when you closed it down last.

Try this, find the desktop shortcut for x2. Right click on it and select the properties. Where it says "Target" add the following to the end of it;

c:\ c:\

Then apply the changes, close the properties box and restart x2. Do you still get the error?

what if you turn off the tree and restart?
you might even consider putting a floppy in just to make it shut up :)

expanding on what vserghi said ...
If you have
Tools | Options... | [_] Save program state on exit UNchecked,
and when you had "saved state" it was with a pane reading a floppy, then the error will keep repeating on each restart.

But appending " c:\ c:\" to the shortcut command line
(with the spaces, but without the quotes) should have corrected the problem (It did for my test case).

You also might try:
Actions | Save settings now
(with both panes viewing folders on your hard drive) to see if that helps.

Hi All,
I don't think the problem is related to a save state as I get the same problem on mine and i have never (ever) yet had a floppy viewed by Xplorer2.
I get the error message anytime I move or delete a folder from the root of a drive either between folder panes or within the same one.
Ex.
- K:\folder1 moved it into K:\folder2 = A:\ error message
- K:\folder2 delete = A:\ error message
- K:\folder3 moved to Z:\test = A:\ error message

so for some reason it seems the code wants to check the highest drive letter when the folder that was last selected dissapears even though the folder pane remains on the hard drive.

hope this helps.

Thx Much

Am sorry,
once i did a save state for both panes on C:\ problem did go away, but it's still doesn't seem right that the program should have even looked at A:\ when both panes were on K:\ (or other hd's). I have never done a save state before (new install) or view of a:\ so it may be some kind of default the program does even though A:\ is\has never been used\selected.

thx again
