Thumbnail view problem.

Closed x2 yesterday in single pane, thumbnail view of several HTML documents. Opened this morning and no thumbnails displayed only the icons that are displayed if x2 does not recognise the file format to display a thumbnail. Changed to detail view and back to thumbnail - blank pane and locked out!! Closed via task manager, status was "not responding".
Opened again and changed to another folder with JPG images - only icons. Changed to detail view and closed x2. Reopened (detail view), changed to thumbnail view and - thumbnails appeared. Back to detail view and changed to original folder with HTML documents then closed x2. Reopened but still not able to display HTML documents as thumbnails.
Took the "large hammer" and rebooted. Now works perfectly!! Any ideas Nikos??
I had been on the Internet earlier, using Mozilla, and also sent some e-mails using Outlook and everything appeared to be working but they were all closed down. Only x2 was open.

Operating system is XP home.

well, if it works, it works!
rebooting is always the first thing when behaviour gets quirky
in your case looks like the XP previewing system got somehow foobar'd for one reason or other. XP is as liable to crash or get in a twist as any other m$ OS!
