moving from 2xExplorer to xplorer2

Post by Hmmm »

I just replace my 2xExplorer (which I am loving very much :inlove:) and i found two features missing

1. Drive Bar - it will be very easy to add this, with option to turn it on/off
2. Address Bar cant be customized. I have few icons on 2xExplorer's address bar (parent, back, forward...) and i think that this bar is perfect place for them. If I continue in this direction, it will be perfect feature adding user customized toolbars to be available.

People find imperfections first, but 2xExplorer and xplorer2 are great products, thanks God they are here and still there are free versions :)

Drive bar is something which will probably be added in the future. For now you can use alternatives like using the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+Shift+driveletter to go to any drive quickly

Address bar customisation? There is a toolbar in Xplorer², but this is only customizable in the Pro version I believe (so no freebie for this one ;) ). You can add a lot of the menu items to the toolbar (I believe the ones you mention are even standard on the toolbar even in the lite version), even your own custom commands you have created or bookmarks for your favorite folders (but you have to pay for the Pro version to get this customization option).

Maybe you haven't got the toolbar enabled now in ? To enable it, go to View|Toolbars and make sure there's a tick mark in front off the 'toolbar' item.

Enjoy :)

yes, I know that toolbar is customizable, I am talking about address bar

and that the perfect solution will be if I could add more than one toolbar and customize each... like in MS Word for example

adding extra toolbars is reserved for the PRO version
however i can't see your point with the addressbar
you can move it next to the toolbar if you want it to feel more like 2x

in 2x i had one toolbar under main menu with most icons, and in address bar, right of address editbox few icons like parent, back, forward...

Then my initial answer was no so far off the truth in the first place (although completely wrong about customizing the one toolbar which always available, even in the lite version).

When you get the Pro version, you could add an extra toolbar containing the buttons you describe to navigate forwards and backwards and place this to the right of the address bar.
The normal toolbar can then hold the other buttons you want.

That should solve your issue I think :)
