Copying...

Post by tick69 »

I installed the newest version at work to test to see if the view - focus thing was resolved, and it seems to be working fine.  Then I tested the copy feature because that was to be updated but it did not behave the way I wanted/expected it to.  I tested this to verify my memory and here is how it works.  I open 2xExplorer and in the top pane I open a folder w/ files in it then in the bottom pane I open an empty folder - I always use two horizontal panes - Then I copy a few from the top to the bottom.  Then I highlight the entire top and copy it to the bottom and when it asks overwrite? I say no then in the top  the only ones selected are the ones I did not overwrite, the ones that were not copied.  This is a wonderful feature in that it keeps track of successful copies and makes life easier.  When I duplicate this in ver 1.1.0.1 then go back to the top pane they are ALL still selected.  Is this right?  is there a way to make it behave the 2x way?

x2 does not do the file-hilighting-after-copy as 2x
if you want to see which files are still not copied just press F9 for a quick synchronization

i'm glad that the restore-file-focus-for-past-folders works for icon and all other views now

F9 not right

Post by tick69 »

F9 nine is not the right answer here, in that if I want to see what files were not written in the copy because they were already there and the ones I have MAY be a different version than the destination, but have the same name.  If you hit F9 it only highlights what is not there, not what is there in name but differs in version.  when you hit F9 it is not going to do a file compare on each file matching name and verifiy they are different and mark them as such.  There is a way to do things with 2x that may seem wierd to you but they work.  Copying the whole thing from one system to another leaves me with the differeing files highlighted.  There are times when I am trying to move programs from one machine to another but I do not want to overwrite any existing files but if the program refuses to work then I just invert selection and I have the files that are newly added but are now in both directories and then hit delete and I know that there are other ways to do this  as I have been using them since I moved up to Xplorer2 but I was thinking from past posts that somehow I misunderstood that the highlighting feature of 2xExplorer was being added for Xplorer2 and was a little dissappointed when it was not there...

Oh, and I guess 20 posts does it because I'm am ot a newby anymore....
