X2 Version - Multiple Instances Not Allowed

Post by BugByteMan »

I am trying to run multiple instances of X2 and it does not seem to be allowed - this works fine with 2xExplorer.

Here is my scenerio:

I mostly use a limited account on Windows XP.  Sometimes I need to perform some tasks that require admin priveleges and I would like to use X2 to perform them (without logging out or using fast user switching).

I am looking to have 2 instances of X2 running simultaneously:

  -  One running with user priveleges
  -  Another running with admin priveleges (launched with "Run As")

As I mentioned earlier, this works fine with 2xExplorer.

Is it possible to allow this to work with X2?

i think somebody else has brought this up before
it doesn't seem possible to run x2 as 2 different users at the same time
of course runas on its own will work

having said that, have you tried using the /P command line option?
(shot to nothing)

The /profile option is enabled by default (according to the runas documentation).

I normally right click on the icon and select "Run as..." to perform the task.

Fortunately 2xExplorer works fine for this task so I will continue to use this as a workaround.
