x2 retains focus when dragging files to other apps

Post by mattcro »

I've been trying x2 for a week or so, and liking it. I got tired of Explorer forgetting my column widths etc, and I like having two panes.

One thing I've noticed is that x2 seems to retain focus (stays on top) when I drap-drop files to something like win media player. I have media player sitting on top, and drag a media file from an x2 pane under it, and x2 pops on top, hiding media player.

Maybe that's what you'd expect, but win explorer doesn't do that - media player stays on top, no matter how many times you drag-drop between them. If you click on explorer (as opposed to dragging), then it takes focus.  x2 always takes focus, whether you drag or click. Changing the "eat first click" options doesn't seem to make any difference.

Is this normal/intended drag-drop behaviour for x2? Maybe explorer uses some clever feature to prevent itself jumping on top of other windows when you drag?

Using WinXP pro, x2 lite 1101.

unfortunately that's how it works in x2
but hitting alt+tab while you're dragging will get that other window back on top. alternatively you can hover on the target window's taskbar button
