I've been using this program for several months, and really like the capabilities it gives. However - tonight I experienced the third occurrence of my custom toolbar disappearing. I booted up after supper and it's just not there. My bookmarks are still shown in the menu, so I can easily rebuild the toolbar, but this is reaching the point of too much frustration.
I'm running XP Home, SP1. Here is a list of my running process at bootup, in case anybody can spot something that might be causing a problem. It's a stable setup, I don't normally have many software problems.
Any help is appreciated. I'd like to keep using this program.

Hi nikos,
Under View | Toolbars I see:
Address bar
Toolbar
All toolbars
Status Bar
All are checked. I unchecked and rechecked them, but my custom toolbar is still gone.
I only have one extra toolbar - mostly bookmarks.
My practice has been to put xplorer2 in the startup section of the Start Menu and never close it, meaning it's still open when I shut down the system (using Turn Off Computer in the normal way).
I've tried hard to relate the problem to some other event - no luck so far. Hope you can think of something.
Mike

sometimes when you logoff/shutdown, x2 doesn't save its settings properly. I guess this is a long standing bug which i can't seem to nail down.
the advise is whenever you make any major changes to the program to use actions | save settings now
has anybody else had problems with extra toolbars?
since this is intermittent problem I'd recommend as a safety precaution to save this registry key (export it with regedit)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ZabaraKatranemia Plc\xplorer2_UC\MainFrame Settings\Toolbars
then if things get pear-shaped you can just double-click on the .reg file and get your old toolbars back
if you find any pattern to the fault please let me know!

Nikos, have noticed the "not saving settings on windows shutdown" bug too. Worked around it by either using "save settings now" as you suggest or exiting X² in between to make it save its settings.
I don't know what pattern you are searching for, but in my case it never saves its settings on windows shutdown (to be clear what we mean here: leaving X² open and issue a windows shutdown from the start menu so applications get a signal to close themselves.)
Seems the event which X² receives to close upon exit is not handled properly.

me too!
I was wondering why I've lost the toolbar on some of my layouts lately.
But have had no time to investigate why.
Come to think of it, it is only recently that I have started to leave x2 open at shutdown -- & that is about when I noticed the missing toolbar on a couple of occasions.
I thought it curious; but then just opened x2 in another layout & went back to real work without investigating.
[this on XPsp2 at home & XPsp1 at work]

Nikos,
The WM_QUERYENDSESSION message is sent when the user chooses to end the session or when an application calls the ExitWindows function.
See the following link for more details:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/defau ... ession.asp
You can save the program settings in your handler for that message.

Nikos,
Had this at work between yesterday and today:
Changed a few existing bookmarks to point to another location. Made sure to explicitly use 'Save settings now' from the menu. Left X² open for the rest of the day. It closes only when I shutdown windows.
Found today that my previous settings for the bookmarks have appeared again !
How can this be? (I have to admit, since the settings are stored in the registry, this might have something to do with our company network setup, since my roaming profile is copied from my machine to a central place and then back again when I log on again. So it could be that causes this).
I'll try to reproduce this @home (where the profiles are not roaming about
)
