I hope someday it's possible to create our own shortkeys in x2 (Pro)
That is certainly a good idea. Opera and Xnews already provide this functionality. It's doable.
However, I would note that getting keyboard programmability in one program doesn't solve the problem of getting it in other programs.
I have come to the conclusion that everybody, defined as anyone who might read this post, ought to have a separate macro program so you can program your keyboard to do what you want it to do, either in all programs or in particular programs. I use Macro Express http://www.macros.com for this purpose. I have used it for several years and think the developers of it have their act together. I think it is the way to go.
For example, to get alternate-enter to do properties in xplorer 2, I wrote a one step Macro Express macro for xplorer 2 to do F12 when I key alternate-enter in that program.
Another example, no standard in menu structures exists for program preferences, or set up. There seems to be no limit on the different places that developers can think of to put it. Years ago, DOS WordPerfect used shift-F1 for that purpose, and since then I haven't seen anyone come up with a better choice. I have written shift-F1 macros for all my programs that include the preferences menu path for that program. Now I can get to preferences anywhere with shift-F1 and don't have to remember the menu path for individual programs.
I think there is no away around the need for a separate macro program.

I think Macro Express is a good program, I use it myself too.
But not everyone would pay another 39$ for this functionallity.
And not every program let you take over the function keys.
The point with X2 is that it has so many functions and shortkeys. And the shortkeys I use envolves just a little too much stretching from my fingers, while shortkeys I don't use are easier to reach. So if you can create your own shortkeys you can give them a nice place on the keyboard.
It's just a little thing to make X2 even more functional than it already is.
But without it stays the No.1 file manager . . .
