X² created folder comments

Post by Astuur »

OKay, maybe a stupid question
Searched here and in the manual, but I could not find it.

When I (Alt+Z) attach a comment to a folder in x² I dont see it any more once I am in Win Explorer (except as an infotip when mousing over the entry)
That is different from the file comments (which I can see in the comment column even in Win Explorer.
This is on XP home SP2 with NTFS.

Is this the normal way, or is there anything I can do to make it work?

Thanks very much, Nikos!
The
Infotip=My folder COmment
line is in the
[.ShellClassInfo]
section of the desktop.ini .It just is not diplayed in the comment column
(..or the "Kommentare" column on my German Win )

Nope, because in all of my system I dont have any "Comment" displayed for a folder (outside of x²).
Also I am not even sure if there is an official way in XP to create one...

Could this be of any help?

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/defau ... ty_set.asp

For Win2000 but not explicitly for XP I have found this:

Yep... that's what it looks like. Dammit.
I hope you can manage. Personally I consider Folder Comments even more useful than file comments.
I would hate to loose the column display   :(

Good Quetsion, Nikos  :)
I might do that, once I got the hang of it. Currently I am only starting to find my around all the useful things.
It may sound strange to you, but I still have not come around all its corners and options (not to speak of reading all the pdf - which is nicely done, but  l o n g).
On the other hand, I think  I remember reading that you yourself did not encourage to use xplorer² as primary shell ...
So WinExplorer is where I start currently.
I have created a "Start x² here...." context entry for folders, and flip over whenever I do some real work .... hey .. its a start, right ? :)
all for today - closing down now...
