Sorry for a newbie question...
I open a new Tab and wanted to change the type to be a tree or a view window rather than a new file browser (Pane). Can this be done? Old Fileprobe Filemanager could do this easily...
TIA

No -- the tabbed panes are dedicated to listing files & folders.
The treepane (when visible) is fixed to the left of the filepanes.
The Quickviewer (when turned on) is fixed below the treepane, or at the left by itself.
More information can be found in the Quick start guide on the Help menu.
And the compleat thesis on xplorer² operation along with discussion of good file management practices can be found in the the full User Manual.
