It would be good if the history system for visual filters could enable users to change the order of history items to help with speed of access.  Alternatively history items could be displayed in the order of most frequent use.

Another *very* useful facility would be to have the option to apply a default filter to a folder or folder/sub-folder set (ie. a branch of the tree). (Doing this for a whole branch might be difficult) but doing it for a single folder should be easy.  2xExplorer could save a formatting information file into the relevant folder.  And the program could be trained to automatically look for this file whenever a folder was openned.  It would then apply the default filter formula recorded in the format file.

In this way when I'm working on my folders of Word/Excel/PIM etc. files I can have the .wbk and .bak files automatically screened all the time (unless I choose to turn the filter off).

What do you reckon?

Cheers, Philip

i have this idea for managing all the history lists in the near future, which will allow you to move items up and down in the order as you want. You'll be able to assign shortcuts to selected history items too which will become "fixed commands" with easy access

for the present, history lists (for filters, commands etc) are ordered according to their most recent use

don't forget that you can quickly turn a visual filter on and off using the Ctrl+J command
