Visual filtering does not work on directory names?
I'm trying to use a wildcard filter on subdirectory names, but it seems this does not work. All subdirectories are listed anyway. Does this feature work on directory names, or just files?

Hmm...
Doesn't work for me. Version Lite 1.3.0.2, running on Windows 2000, accessing a directory on a network drive.
I add a filter "inactive" (the address bar reading "P:\x\user\*inactive*"), and the entire directory list remains unchanged. Refreshing does not change a thing.
Thinking the network drive access might have something to do with it, I changed to the local disk and tried a filter there. Still doesn't work.

I checked a network drive and it worked ok.
both checks were with and old debug Lite version: 1.2.0.96[DBG]
I then tried 1.3.0.2 [Lite] and discovered the behaviour you describe on both network and local drives/folders.
I went back to 1.2.0.96[DBG] and still had the errant behaviour. :shock:
I then tried the current 1.3.0.91 [unicode/PRO] and STILL have the problem.
I don't know what's wrong, but once it starts, it stays
OS = winXP+sp1

May I ask why? Even the DOS "DIR" command can filter directory names via wildcards. If it's a marketing decision (Lite features vs. Pro features), I understand.nikos wrote:the wildcard filter doesn't apply to assumed folders, only to files
the only way to achieve folder filtering is through Alt+H, which as fred said is a pro-only feature

While it is what it is (& same as wildcard specifier in 2xExplorer, BTW), there is a mini-mystery of why it worked OK for me when I first checked it out to verify the issue with an old Lite DBG version, but not on later trials using any flavor of x2.
It seems like something paranormal is going on.
