Hovering selects folder?

Post by paul1149 »

I just realized why moving files to folders was more difficult in xP2 - it doesn't highlight the folder as you hover over it. I find myself double-checking that the file made it to the right folder.

Would this feature be on the agenda?

Thanks,
Paul

I cannot reproduce that behaviour.
The target folder is highlighted for me.
Checked on winXP+sp2 with x2 Lite 1.3.0.2

Please provide more detail, including view settings, OS, whether target is opposite pane or tree, etc.

are you looking for tools | options | window | hover selection?

nikos, that sounds like the item. I have it checked, but its bubble help says that it's incompatable with "sticky selection", whatever that is. Can't seem to find that in the options.

Sticky selection is a mode, toggled by ALT+S (see Mark menu).

Please refer to User Manual for more details.

chances are, if you haven't heard of sticky selection you don't have to worry about incompatibility :)

Ok, turning off sticky seems to have done it. I'm getting a corrupted visual on the selection, though - partial highlighting or underline with no highlighting is the usual case. But it seems to be functionally working.

Thanks,

hover selection usually goes hand in hand with single click activation, so perhaps you should check that option too

I do have/have had that checked. But now I have to report that the hover selection isn't working consistently.

sticky / hover / single click (reference)

Post by fgagnon »

I think that is a known limitation, previously discussed here

But I don't see how it relates to your initial post, which sounded as if the target folder was not being highlighted during drag&drop operations.   :?

This is getting complicated.

Sticky supposedly turns itself off when hover select is enabled. Yet I still see the flag on the menu item.

Dragging and dropping a file from within xP2 is highlighting the folders perfectly. But when I try it with a file from the desktop, nothing.

Perhaps I'm not using terminology accurately, but I'm up against some slightly weird behavior.

Thanks,

the bug is that sticky doesn't turn itself off automatically if you check "hover"

you have to uncheck sticky yourself and try again
