Open xplorer2 from other applications

Post by hbschwartz »

Many applications go to a directory, for instance locate32. However they
open explorer to do this. Is there some way, perhaps a hack to the register, so that these programs would bring up the director in xplorer2 instead
of explorer?

if you follow the instructions in registry.txt (see how to associate x2 with folders) and if these programs play by the rules, you should see x2 opening all filesystem folders

Actually, I did what you said and entered x2 for `command' as I
recall. I must have done something wrong, because the result was that
when I double clicked folders, the windows find command came up instead of some application opening the folder! I will look more closely and try again.

Actually, others are interested in launching xplorer2, rather than windows explorer in as many situations as possible - for instances when clicking on desktop items, on My Computer, and on a logical drive like c:

There are default values in the registry for such items as ``drive'' that one can set. When I tried setting these to xplorer2 I got some wierd results.
As usual, one must know what one is doing when putting data values in the registry.

Nikos - could you instruct use in how to change the registry, so xplorer2 will open by default in other contexts, besides opening folders?
