Great program! 1 small request, please: Undo button

Post by Chucko »

Hi Nikos -- Great program! Wish I'd found it 2 years ago when moved to Windoze XP. We have a subdirectory of 2200 files of 13k each on our LAN and when I "explored" to that mapped drive, explorer took way too long to present the directory tree and show the 2200 files. Why? XP explorer had to "walk the tree" and gather waay too much information.

But your program presents the directory tree in a flash. This is a huge benefit for us. Furthermore, deleting all the said files used to take minutes, now seconds. Nice work! How about an undo button? That's for version 2.5...

No reply is necessary... :D

Welcome to the board, Chucko!
I'm sorry you didn't find x2 earlier, like I did when I was totally dismayed by how backwards I found XP's "Explorer" to be when I updated from win98 in late 2002.  (It took me only a year of grief before I found x2.)

As far as UNDO goes, that has been asked many time; but apparently it is big deal to implement, so we have seen/heard of no activity on that front. Perhaps your request will spark a new round of requests for the feature. and maybe even get nikos to start serious work on adding it.

Hi, I just started using xplorer and It's great in many ways but I really miss the undo button I had in explorer.

Why is it such a big deal to implement?
It works well in explorer and it's not very 'advanced'...

I can understand that things like undo delete would be a bit more difficult without the recycle bin, but a one step undo shouldn't be such a big deal.
All one have to do is keep a list of the last file operation that was made by copy, rename, delete. and on command reverse it if possible. if not possible then no undo, but at least it have tried.

I can understand that it would get tricky with multistep undos, but a one step undo should not be difficult at all.

And since this is my first post, I want to take the opportunity to say thanks! for this overall great program. Best filemanager for windows I've seen.
