Great Program! (really!) Some suggestions, please...

Post by Chucko »

Hi Folks!

Been using x2 for about a month now. Really great! Very helpful on a complex network such as ours.

In the interests of perfection (for which we all strive mightily, right?) let me offer two -- I mean three -- suggestions:

1) When in double pane view, allow user to select the pane to close. A small "X" in the upper right-hand corner would be familiar to all. Prompt "Do you really want to close this pane?" might prevent the occasional accidental close...

2) How about multi pane view, up to, say 4? Tiled or cascaded per user setting would be very cool!

3) Autosize columns in a pane shows "Ctrl+Add" as the hotkey sequence. OK... Control plus Add. What's Add? No "Add" key available but maybe I missed something... Most likely...

No need to reply. Best to all! :)

@1) - Ctrl+O closes the inactive pane.  This is a semi-toggle, in that a second Ctrl+O will reopen the inactive pane -- but only the 'top' tab will be restored.

@2) - This has been discussed quite a bit.  It is in response to the numerous multi-pane requests that nikos has implemented tabs. You can have as many as you choose in each pane. :)

@3) - The "Add" key referred to is the "+" key in the numeric keypad zone of your keyboard. [Ctrl +] will auto resize all columns .. but most folks prefer to only resize a specific column at a time.  This is accomplished by d-click on the right margin of the columnname header for the column you want to auto-resize.

PS - You may want to spend extra time with the User Manual to learn the details of more features.  We don't mind answering questions on the board, but you are likely to learn more faster by reading the UM, the Quick Start Guide and the "Tips". The latter can be found in the file x2tips.rtf in your installation folder.  :D

... and of course suggestions are always welcome - even if we may respond with how we think x2 already does what you requested, or a workaround to accomplish the requested function until the request may (or may not) be implemented.  8)
