Do "Save Settings" work in Lite?

Hello to all... glad I found ya.

Have used 2xExplorer and liked it. Now I've switched to xplorer2 Lite, and like it even better. Great file manager. I've used/tried a lot of them, and this is one of the best. I want to thank all those who put in a lot of their time and effort in this project.

Now for my problem. After config'ing my layout, how I wanted everything, I saved the settings... and then saved the layout using my nic. However, when I open the proggie, it opens the "default" layout, not the one I saved.

I then have to go to the menu, "Window" and click on my saved layout for it come up... then I have to close the wrong one which opened. So, that's two clicks to do the work of what should have been one click only. I know.... one more click isn't much, is it.. however, it is frustrating. And it doesn't save my window position on the desktop, so I have to move it to my preferred locale.

What's the secret? How do I get my saved layout to open initially, and also to open to my preferred locale on the desktop?

If you want x2 to remember where you were when you quit it, elect
Save program state on exit
from menu: Tools | Options... on the General tab.

If you would rather have a fixed state, leave that option unelected,
and use menu: Actions | Save settings now

To start with a particular saved layout, include that layout's name in the commandline of the shortcut you use to start x2 using the /s:layoutname argumant. See the Quick start guide and/or the User Mnual for details.

fgagnon... hello... hope things are well on your end this day.

I did read the User Manual... well.... let me say I scanned it, rather than read it.

Soooo... I just brought it up and looked again. Although I didn't read all 355 pages, I did do a search for "/s:layoutname" and "/s" with no results.

I checked the Qwk Start Guide, and did find where it explained about saving layouts... and the "/s" option. I've made the changes to the shortcut, adding my layout prefs. It worked fine.. brought up the layout I wanted. The size of the main window and the opening dirs was what I saved... although the screen position on the desktop was centered and not where it was when I exited. That's minor, however, I can quickly move it where I want it each time.

Thank you very much for the qwk reply. Ahhhh.. my use of the term "qwk" brings back memories of the good-ol' days of the bbs... and the many qwk/bluewave packets I downloaded. Are you familiar with that? And... of course... use of the term also dates me.

sometimes it's a guess as to what to search for.
and when the first try is a null result, less will often yield more.

The info I referred to is in the manual Appendix 9J, under
Running x2 from commandline

& a search for simply /s: will find it rightaway.

Sorry you didn't hit upon it. Composing successful searches is a universal challenge.
