Bug Fixes Found from Lite; checking if addressed in Pro

I plan on upgrade to Pro; but for planning, I'd like to know whether certain bugs or functionality deficits are fixed (or will be soon) in Pro.  I'm using Lite ver 1.6.0.1.

1. Sorting by Dimension takes an EXCESSIVELY long Time.

From what I can see, I'd guess that the app is calling out for alternate data streams for each file rather than sorting the data from the list.  In any case I've let this run for hours in a directory with 7000 files.  Meanwhile, dropping the directory list into a file and sorting with an editor takes under a second.

2. Thumbnail mode seems to miss files.

Perhaps it's a hallucination, but it's happen enough that I think not.  I'm moving certain photos based on content by selecting them with 2x.  However after traversing the directory carefully and moving the set, additional photos seem to "appear."  This happens in both large over 1000 and medium (under 200) directories.


3. Option for move browse to return to last path used rather than Desktop.

4. In general, an option to sort based on details in the window rather than by refreshing the content.

This has a fairly enormous performance hit if non shell properties are used (or shell properties that Windows stores in ADS).

5. Ability to replace or add to properties based on a selection of files.

This is very important for managing groups of files, adding new files to existing dirs with properties populated before moving, etc.  It will become more important as more documents adopt XMP.

6. Ability to add to or replace EXIF metadata contents.

7. Ability to add to or replace IPTC metadata content.


8. In general, performance improvements handling large directories and directories with a large number of subfolders, or a smaller number of subfolders containing a medium number (under 200) of files.

9. Option to put thumbnail & file property cache within each subfolder and update only for new files.

This has two aspects of importance.  a) speed improvement; b) the ability to move subfolders off and onto detachable media without losing the info.

10. Ability to find files based on metadata matching (exact or inexact).

The pro version may do this already.  I can't tell since the lite version uses Windows search, which is both limited and dysfunctional in its handling of metadata.

i'll pick on a few of your items

1. if you are in folder of 7000 items and you sort on a slow column like dimension then it is going to be slow. For much better results sort by stock columns, those with [S] after their name.

2. if it is big files that get skipped, check your thumb extract byte limit in tools | options | general

3. that's automatic, make sure you check "save settings on exit" option

4-5. ???

6-7. these properties are adjustable from the standard property dialog F12. You may need to install a handler eg http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/usin ... oinfo.mspx

10. the pro version has extensive metadata search facilities
