variable for file name in inactive panel - diff batch variable panel

I want to run diff program on two different files in 2 panels.

If use variables like $I, $P, $N everything works fine if file names are the same.

I could not figure out how to specify the name of the selected file in the inactive panel.  I think such variable does not exist.
