box selecting files no go

Hi,
have used x2 on old computer Ok for ages. Have upgraded and now when try to select multiple files by draging box around them in either pane, it will only pick up the first file you start on. No box appears at all. It doesnt matter where in the line you click. I can add to a selected file by Ctrl click but this is not so good when lots of files.   Thanks

I assume you are speaking about Details view.
Try un-ticking Full row selection
on the Window tab in Tools | Options...
