Currently, the user has to copy the website and NetEZ Forum URLs from the Help>About 2xExplorer, and paste them in his IE/Netscape to reach out. This is not necessary: it should be possible to reach both website and NetEZ Forum by clicking on the hotlinks provided in the Help>About 2xExplorer box.

(Naturally, this applies to the first time use only; for the subsequent visits, the user can simply add the URLs to his favorites.)

Secondly, if the What's New, Help, and FAQ files are provided in the HTML format, they will be much more readable, as compared to the present-day, text-pad version.

(As the HTML versions already exist on the website, it is not required to design them afresh.)

i guess you're right

but that's not really a top priority for me

now, if we could get a industrious volunteer from 2x's user base to do these conversions, wouldn't that be lovely?  ;)

Well, to make the effort worthwhile (and to induce you to reconsider :) ), I have made some contribution:

Attached is a ready-reckoner, with 4 tables:

* All keyboard shortcuts (menu-wise list)
* All Pull-down menus (menu-wise list)
* "Given the purpose, find the command" lookup table
* All buttons explained

(BTW, You were right about 2x being strong on keyboard shortcuts: it does make quite a long list! :) )

All the help-related topics are packed in this one file.

The file is currently in MSWord format. Breaking up this file (as required) will be very easy.

For further conversion, there are multiple possibilities:
* WinHelp/CHM file
* Multiple interlinked HTML files-one on each topic.

Here I had to stop, as I have no experience in writing/compiling nice-looking HTML/Winhelp/CHM files.

Now perhaps you can exhort other members to help carry out this conversion? :shifty:

Since you have already declared that x2 is being replaced with Xplorer2, perhaps the reckoner will find a place there?

(BTW, why do you call it @#$%^&* Beta? :D )

heard this peoples?

we are looking for a bright young industrious lad to take over where narayan left and complete the monstrous task of documenting 2xExplorer in a user friendly manner. Any takers?

i am sure when the volunteer(s) turn up narayan won't refuse us the professed file with all the ground work he did

wish we had more troops like you son!

:)

Hi all,

I just wanted to let you know that over the years this board has been upgraded a few times and it will be upgraded again. I expect that this winter the board will be upgraded again. When the board is upgraded, old links do not work. So if you are planning to link to the board through the 2x program it may be best to link to the main page. forum.zabkat.com is the main page. That link will always works and has never changed. Any link other than the main link will change when upgrades are made and will result in an error not found message. :(
