Windows XP Pro SP3 up-to-date
xplorer2 1.7.0.5 lite
I understand why subfolder sizes aren't automatically calculated when the root folder of a hard drive is selected. That's not my problem.
I frequently have my desktop open in one of xplorer2 lite's panes. Intermittently I find that subfolder sizes aren't being calculated automatically even though I've got the box checked in the Options/Advanced tab. I haven't been able to figure out more concretely when subfolder sizes are automatically calculated and when they aren't as I move around on my hard drive in xplorer2 lite--it seems to be random to me.
Of course, 2 CTRL-Ds will calculate subfolder sizes, but what's the point of having the option to calculate them automatically in the first place?
The only thing I can figure as far as my desktop goes is that I've got around a gig of photos in the "My Pictures" folder in "My Documents", which is a desktop folder I choose to show. But the random behavior happens in other folders too.
It isn't a matter of a delay; subfolder size is not ever displayed when I have the problem. 2 CTRL-Ds do the job quite quickly.
Tnx.

if you can't pin it down it will be much harder for me to reproduce, given that i don't even use the feature. Folder sizes are computed when you enter the folder. What happens in your case? Moreover there was a small bug that was fixed in v1.72, which will be available for the free lite version soon

Hope this is simple enough
OK, I just went looking for an example of a folder where subfolder sizes are computed and another folder where subfolder sizes are not computed. Here's what I found:
If I open C:\Program Files in a panel either as a bookmark or from the tree, subfolder sizes are always immediately computed and displayed. If I stay in the same panel and open C:\Documents and Settings\My_User_Name\desktop, subfolder sizes are not computed and displayed when I select my desktop using the System button but are computed and displayed immediately when I select my desktop using the tree.
This is repeatable and constant; there may be lots of other sometimes yes, sometimes no situations, but I'd rather give you something fixed to work with.
Thanks for looking at this.
