Greetings.
Is there an x²Lite registry setting I should/must (re)set to bring back x²Lite Infotips?
Today I noticed that neither x²L nor 2xEx nor FreeCommander
were automatically displaying Infotips on any of my 3 XP laptops.
I checked/confirmed that each explorer on each laptop
was set to display Infotips. I then guessed that because I had done
a reg tweak a few weeks ago to remove Search from the XP Startmenu
that a side effect was no Infotips in explorers. After I undid the reg tweak
and added Search back to the Startmenu, 2xEx & FreeComm both
immediately began displaying Infotips but not x². When I put the mouse
over a line item in x², then x² displays the Infotip - both after this
latest reg tweak and before. I also have the x² Infotip size limit set to 0.
Is there an x²Lite registry setting I should/must (re)set to bring back x²Lite Infotips?
Any helpful replies/insights appreciated.
Thank you.

assuming that you haven't broken infotips altogether on your windows (can you see them in windows explorer?) you can show them in xplorer2 if you have infotips enabled from Tools > Options > Window > View
also if you can't see tips for larger files inrease the infotip extraction bytesize limit from Tools > Options > General

Greetings.
Strange reply ...
Seems to ignore (almost) everything I said in my post ...
including my question ...
I guess deliberately so ...
The remove search is a config setting built into XP Pro
through gpedit.msc.
MS might not know all the side effects of everything ...
Like I said I have InfoTips in 2xEx & FreeCommander ...
and actually everywhere XCEPT x¹...
Strange ...
XCEPT when I put/hover the mouse over the item in x² -
which is how it was with everything until I undid the reg tweak.
Like I said x² is/was already configured
to display InfoTips with unlimited size ...
Is there an x²Lite registry setting I should/must
(re)set to bring back x²Lite InfoTips?
Any helpful replies/insights appreciated.
Thank you.

Greetings.
I have recently noticed that
"Highlight primary sort column (XP or later)"
is checked but "greyed out" on each of my 3 XP laptops.
Maybe x² "thinks" that it is not on an XP or later laptop?
Maybe some other XP gpedit.msc tweak
like removing "Logoff" from the startmenu is interfering with x²?
No other apps/utils exhibit these "symptoms".
Any helpful replies/insights appreciated.
I suppose I might have to try adding Logoff back to the startmenu ...
Thank you.
