Post by JDucharme »

I recently insalled icolor folder to change my default folder colors. It's working fine in explorer, but not in xplorer2. Is there some sort of cache i have to clear? Any help appreciated. Thanks

as i said first try the professional version which i believe is better with custom icons. Then if you need simple icon changes you can also do them by right clicking on a folder icon, then properties:

Nikos,

Thanks for your feedback. I changed the default folder icon in windows explorer. I can right click and select a color for individual folders.. and it works in xplorer2 but it's the default folder color that's not updated. That's why i thought, that xplorer2 had a cache or something to store icons... and that maybe if i cleared that cache, the new default folders being used would update accordingly in xplorer2.

I don't want to individually select folders...

I may try the pro version again in the future. I was trying it on another computer, but since reimaged that one...

I do like changing icons and especially folder colors;   I noticed it took x2 about an hour to propagate all of the appropriate icons (some were just wrong until it was done)  but the idea of coloring ALL folders that match a criteria.... that's powerful.. ME LIKES>

Not sure if you're applauding the nebulous idea, or the actual practice (in the Pro version), but there's an expansively entertaining thread on defining colour-coding rules here which might be worth reading.
