x2: List of opened windows under <Window> menu

Post by boonkui »

Hi nikos,
Just another wish here :)
Since one easily lose track of multiple x2 windows opened, it would be helpful if the list of opened windows are listed as menu items under the <Window> menu. Probably this is already planned :?:
Many thanks.

i can't say that it is
what would be the purpose?
in the past we have been discussing about a modified <Alt+Tab> version that would cycle through x2 windows, is that what you had in mind?

 I missed the <Alt>-<Tab> thread. It is just like the MDI behaviour of many multi-windowed apps today. Just a few examples follow.

In M$ Word, one can Ctrl-F6 to cycle thru opened documents. And open documents are listed in <Window> menu.
In Mozilla 1.4, open browser windows are listed in <Window> menu.
In OpenOffice.org, open documents are also listed in <Window> menu.

I think we users are trained to expect such list of open windows as typical feature when a <Window> menu is offered

If x2 introduces such feature, it can also serve to list all windows with folder names in a uncluttred manner. Guess there is no other easy way to do that from a cluttered Windows Task Bar.

What I think is that such feature is a small effort but a leap in usability for user like me

i suppose this kind of feature would have utility for some users
i think that the best thing usability-wise would be a "hot list" with all the local windows popping up with a shortcut key

I like the "hot list" method, but can I suggest that as you "tab around" the hotlist (and also the Windows Alt-TAB list) it would be VERY NICE if the scrap frames had just a SLIGHTLY different appearance to that of the x2 parents.

Hi nikos,
Yes 8) A "Hot List" that pops up on a shortcut key and shows a list of pathnames of currently open windows would be functionally equivalent for me. Just slightly different approach.
Hope such feature could make it into x2. Thanks.
