Where I live we have a manually controlled sluice-gate which is used to fill/empty the mill lake via the local river. So, if I want to fill the lake, I close the gate and starve people downstream of all the water (for about an hour). If, on the other hand, I need to empty the lake (to avoid flooding) all I do is raise the gate and release about a million litres of water downstream.Tuxman wrote:Why would I want that?
