a) How much would performance increase if no (exe, other) icons were read from files contained in the listed folder ? Maybe you just could add a color indicator for folders and files, whereas the user can specifiy special colors for file extension.
b) Now there are toolbars which have fixed buttons in the bar. Please give the user the ability to let him choose which function buttons he wants to place in toolbars.
