Hmmm... Renamed original install folder, installed 1.1.0.3, clicked icon, my box beeped at me 3 times and nothing.  :(
Windows NT4 SP6a 256 MB RAM. Let me know if you need more info. Back to 1102 :)

nikos,
There''s something wrong with the posted x2Lite 1103.
It just gives three dings and stops before opening for me, too.

version = 1.1.0.3

PS: for what it's worth, installed size of executable is 466944
checksum = 029842E7

PPS - same no-start problem on w98; except only get two dings & out.

'sokay. So long as I'm not riding on any narsty bugs, (haven't noticed any quite yet anyways) I'm happy with 1102.

OK here's something new... I just tried it from the Blackbox 4 Windows shell (no explorer running) and it opens, but the 'about' box reports it as 1.1.0.2, whereas right-clicking xplorer2.exe and selecting 'properties' it says 1,1,0,3 (just like that, with the commas and all)
Hmmm... curiouser and curiouser... :shrug:

okay, THAT preview version of 1.1.0.3(Lite) checks out okay for me on both XP and on w98. :thumbup: :thumbup:
I think you've got it fixed, whatever the problem had been.

Is it possible to have more than one version installed at the same time for testing purposes? (in different folders of course)

Yes. but you should take precautions that the two do not 'talk' to each other, or test results will be confusing.

The easiest 'rule' to follow is to only have one of the versions 'open' at a time: In other words, be sure to close all instances of the one before opening the other.

But you can be more sophisticated if you open each in a different process (see information in the Quick Start guide on the use of the /P commandline switch).

You may also want to test different layouts and start each version with its own layout (again with a commandline switch). See the quick start guide and/or the user manual for details.

Yet, still the two versions cannot be separated entirely. They will share the settings contained in the .global registry key.
(Except the Pro[unicode] version of x2 has a completely different keyset from the Lite version, which is non-Unicode only)

I hope this helps.

Ok, thanks fgagnon..

By the way, I installed 1103 in my wife's Win98SE and we backed up quite a bit of stuff to CD with it and it seemed to work fine.
